Walk the path a first-time guest takes, from the street to the front door, and put a sign wherever you would hesitate. Those are the spots that need one.
Short words, large letters and strong contrast. If you need more than a few words, it is probably a banner or a stand rather than a yard sign.
A retractable banner or an A-frame lives in a closet between events and comes out in a minute, which is exactly what a volunteer team needs.
Questions
On an A-frame you can order new printed inserts and swap them, and on a retractable stand you can order a new banner for the same frame. Yard signs and window clings are replaced as a whole.
A retractable banner stand is the easiest all-rounder. The premium stand is wider and has adjustable poles. An A-frame works well near the door or on the sidewalk.
